Are you a Visiting University Student (VMS) or a Canadian Studying Abroad (CSA)? The Department of Family Medicine welcomes you. A VMS is a student enrolled in a full-time M.D. program at an accredited Canadian Faculty of Medicine. A CSA is a Canadian student enrolled in a full-time M.D. program at an international Faculty of Medicine.
Students must first apply to the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine via the AFMC Student Portal.
Please note that there will be no elective placements during the following periods:
Academic Year 2017-2018
- December 16, 2017 – January 5, 2018
- March 5 to 9, 2018 - TBC
- March 12 to 16, 2018
Your application must include the following:
Choose the timeframe that the elective will take place (maximum 2 weeks)
Indicate any preference for a teaching unit or a particular preceptor at one of the following sites:
- Bruyère Family Medecine Centre
- Civic Family Health Team
- Primrose Family Health Centre
- Riverside Family Health Team
- Community Teaching Practices
Students must have completed their Core Family Medicine Rotation and half of their program core rotations to attend a Family Medicine elective in Ottawa.
Terms of visitation
