Recently established in January 2015, the Office of Internationalization (OI) strives to enhance the international engagement of the University Of Ottawa Faculty Of Medicine. We develop long-term international partnerships and foster global health activities that provide unique and innovative opportunities to students, residents, faculty, and our partners abroad.
The OI serves the pillars of the Destination 2020 mandate at the University excellence, internationalization, bilingualism, and student experience. Our key priorities in international engagement are to foster long-term, progressive relationships and to promote social accountability and reciprocal knowledge-sharing.
The OI currently develops and coordinates strategic partnerships with medical schools and hospitals that improve health services in Canada and abroad. We continue to facilitate and grow the Global Health Program, with the ultimate goal of improving the health care of low-resource communities around the world. Through this model of internationalization we offer an array of opportunities in medical education, research, and health care.
Students and professors alike will find the programs organized through the OI to be valuable and rich in opportunities. We look forward to pursuing our mandate of internationalization and catalyzing the University of Ottawa’s goal of making our students and faculty global citizens.
