The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa is a national leader in maternity, gynecology and newborn care. We strive for excellence in patient care, research and medical education. We have all subspecialties represented including gynecological oncology, reproductive endocrinology, maternal fetal medicine, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, urogynecology, menopause, and minimally invasive surgery.
Our Department is a world leader in perinatal epidemiology. We are partnered with the Children's Hospital Eastern Ontario (CHEO) as well as The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). The OMNI research group has several ongoing international trials collaborations on every continent. We are cofounder's with BORN Ontario, which is the leading maternal child registry in the world that helps perform health services research.
Our minimally invasive surgical program is nationally recognized for pioneering innovative surgeries and research. We are leaders in medical education and stimulation. Our pediatric and adolescent gynecology program has been recognized with provincial and national awards. We have a pioneering program in robotic surgery in gynecologic oncology. Our urogynecology program is a leader in novel procedures. Our reproductive and endocrinology division performs close to 1000 cycles of IVF per year. Our department has a vibrant global health program, OISTER, which collaborates with partners in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya.
We have over 60 residency and fellow trainees in our Department. Our program is extremely popular and sought after by students from all over the world.
