The University of Ottawa, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine 2018 Annual Research Day will be held on Thursday April 19th, 2018 (Room 1007 - at the University).

I am requesting that residents, graduate and undergraduate students and staff members who wish to present a poster or platform presentation submit their abstract (s) to Dr. El Demellawy (deldemellawy@cheo.on.ca) no later than 11:59 PM on March 23rd, 2018.

Please note that no abstract will be accepted after this time.

As in previous years, staff members of the department are invited to submit their research work that they are currently preparing for presentation or that they have recently presented elsewhere. Platform presentations will follow the usual format of a 10 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions. A computer projection system will be available. The dimensions of the poster panels are 46 x 46 inches. Please let us know in advance if you require any other special equipment or if your poster is too large to fit on one panel, so that arrangements can be made to accommodate your needs. Please advise if you would prefer a platform or a poster presentation at the time you submit your abstract.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Terry Colgan, Head of Histopathology, LifeLabs Ontario and Professor Emeritus at University of Toronto. He will present a lecture on a challenging topic in Gynecology pathology, on Thursday April 19th, 2018 at noon: “Unlocking the value of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue (FFPE): a placental molar disease lab diagnostic service”.
