Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics, University of Ottawa.
Affiliated with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and The Ottawa Hospital, the Department of Pediatrics provides healthcare to newborns, children and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario. The Department of Pediatrics has 20 distinct divisions which include Pediatric Medicine (General Pediatrics) and all of the pediatric subspecialty areas.
In addition to health care delivery, we offer a broad educational experience to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees and provide Continuing Medical Education in all areas of pediatrics. Specific Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada training programs are available in General Pediatrics and the following pediatric subspecialty areas: Cardiology, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology and Developmental Pediatrics. Our training programs welcome both Canadian and International trainees.
Our physicians and scientists are internationally recognized for their work in a wide variety of areas. They are engaged in cutting-edge, innovative biomedical research which includes basic science research, clinical research and research in medical education. Some key areas of research include rare genetic diseases, the intestinal microbiology, research in large datasets and data security, chronic diseases and longitudinal outcomes as well as clinical trials.
Our mission is to optimize the health of children and youth in the communities we serve through exemplary clinical care, research, education, and advocacy.
