Tubes of blood on a requisition sheet

The Division of Hematology/Oncology provides care to children with hematologic and oncologic disorders. Care is provided at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in a new outpatient clinic and the recently refreshed inpatient unit. Total annual visits in 2013 were approximately 10,000 (6,883 outpatient and 2,947 inpatient visits).

The division’s goal is to provide a high standard of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary care as well as education, research and advocacy for children and young adults with blood and cancer disorders.

The division has seven full-time faculty, two part-time faculty and a clinical assistant who focus on providing optimal care to patients while ensuring the training of future pediatricians and pediatric hematologists/oncologists. We share a common interest in continuing professional development of our physicians and maintaining a high academic standard.

The division participates in many clinical trials including those directed by the Children’s Oncology Group (international), C17 Research Network (Canada), Canadian Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute of Canada, among others.

The division is a member of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), C17 Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Network, Children’s Oncology Group and other organizations.
