Researching Rare Diseases in Children

Dr. Kym Boycott, a Senior Scientist and Clinical Geneticist at CHEO, talks about the impact of rare disease research by diagnosing rare disease genes. Dr. Boycott helps families and children explore their uncommon illnesses as co-leader for CARE for RARE, a nation-wide research program focusing on the important of both the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases. 

This spotlight video features a little girl named Abby. Her Mom says, “Dr. Boycott was the first doctor to give us a sense of hope” as their family searches for the genetic cause of Abby’s rare disease.
