Program Structure

The General Pediatrics Residency program meets the requirements of both the basic core training for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the pediatric training for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Pediatrics.

Residents are exposed to community pediatrics in each of the three core years and are required to complete a rotation in a rural setting in PGY2 year and remote setting on Baffin Island in PGY3 year. The third/fourth year rotations provide excellent experiences in triage, stabilization and cross-cultural medicine.

Residents also have an opportunity to pursue interprovincial and international electives. A supervisor and objectives must be identified and approved by the program director. For those with a greater interest, other rotations can be made available.
