An excerpt from the Dean's Year in Review:

"Postgraduate Medical Education has continued to shine this past year, receiving official  notification in June 2017 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada of the accreditation of our residency programs. Overall, we did exceptionally well with 90% of our programs being accredited at the highest levels.

Collectively, our 72 programs include ~1,200 trainees and ~160 foreign medical graduates. Of particular relevance and timeliness, we now have in Ottawa the second Competency-By-Design program in Canada (Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery) and implementation of this new program has been highly successful. Moreover, PGME had its first ever convocation ceremony, an event essential to celebrating the achievements of all our trainees. All of this PGME success occurred in parallel with the renewed accreditation from the Royal College of the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre (a joint venture between the University and The Ottawa Hospital), which also received numerous accolades putting us in the group of high-performing accredited centres."
