How to apply for scholarships and bursaries
- Step 1: Log on to your uoZone account
- Step 2: Access Online Scholarships and Bursaries, located under the “My Finances and Job” menu.
- Step 3: Complete your student profile.
The Online Scholarships and Bursaries application tool will provide you with the list of bursaries/scholarships for which you may be eligible. The list includes bursaries/scholarships offered by the University of Ottawa, the Faculty of Medicine and other external bursaries for which we have received information from the institution.
You may also view the list of bursaries/scholarships via the general directory. (In the field ‘TYPE’, select ‘Médecine/Medicine’)
We strongly encourage you to apply for all the bursaries/scholarships that are made available to you. Up to 200 of those could be available, depending on your province or territory of origin.
Faculty of Medicine Bursaries
To encourage you to apply to these, and in order to make the application process faster and easier, the Financial Aid and Awards Service, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, has grouped all bursaries solely based on financial need that are specifically intended to the Faculty of Medicine (MD Program) students, into one!
Thus, when applying for scholarships/bursaries, please ensure to select the bursary called “Multiple Financial Need Bursaries – MD Program (99931)”. This will give you a chance to be considered for the 46 bursaries, as long, of course, that you meet all the eligibility criteria of the different bursaries (i.e. there could be residency criteria such as being an Ontario resident).
We have also grouped a series of bursaries that are based on financial need and community involvement: Community involvement for Students in the MD Program (99925)
Most of the in-course bursaries/scholarships deadlines are September 30th and October 31st for the first semester and February 28th and March 31st for the second semester. We recommend that you verify the online scholarships and bursaries regularly to see if new ones have become available.
The Financial Aid Office recommends that you take your time to thoroughly complete the financial questionnaire and to have a look at it early enough during the academic year to ensure that you do not miss any deadlines. If you need assistance with any questions on the questionnaire, please contact the Financial Aid and Awards Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 613-562-5734.
It is also highly recommended that you visit the information on Scholarship and Bursaries included on the Financial Aid and Awards website.
Furthermore, please note that the University of Ottawa Financial Aid Bursary (01586) will be available from November 15, 2016 to January 31, 2017.
