MedExtra: Sharing the Faculty of Medicine’s Successes

Fall/Winter 2018

There’s nothing quite like the promise of a fresh new year to make you take stock of the one that has just passed—and for the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine it was one for the books. The Fall/Winter issue of MedExtra (pdf, 3,155.99 KB)  is filled with reminders of why 2018 was a year to be proud of, including recent success stories from our alumni, researchers, faculty members and learners.

In this issue, we recognize exceptional members of the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine family, including Dr. John Sinclair and the late Dr. Éric Poulin, who have made significant contributions to patient care. We also highlight the School of Epidemiology and Public Health, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year; and the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Program, whose hard-working students play an important role in so much of the important research emerging from the Faculty (which is also featured at length!)

The energy, expertise and professionalism that our learners, faculty members and alumni bring to their work make them incredible ambassadors for uOttawa. As this document demonstrates, the past and present are lighting the way for a very bright future for the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine.

Spring/Summer 2018

Introducing the Faculty of Medicine’s newest publication, MedExtra (pdf, 2,526.86 KB). The purpose of this publication is to spotlight recent success stories from various academic programs, and to profile the great strides we are making in basic and clinical research.

This inaugural issue hones in on our Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Program, and the newest addition to our educational offerings, the Honours Bachelor of Science in Translational and Molecular Medicine. As well, to showcase our research, we feature stories that highlight the impressive work being done by the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) and the Centre for Infection, Immunity and Inflammation (CI3).
