Congratulations to Dr. Homer Yang and Dr. Dan Dubois, this year’s recipients of the CAS Gold Medal and John Bradley Young Educator Honour Awards.
In honour of the 75th Anniversary of CAS and the high calibre of the nominees, the Board authorized the awarding of additional Gold Medals this year, bringing the total awards to three. The Gold Medal is the highest honour of the Society, awarded to someone who has “made a significant contribution to anesthesia through teaching, research, professional practice, or related administration and personal leadership.” In presenting Dr. Homer Yang with this award, the Society recognizes his excellence and outstanding contribution to the profession. While Dr. Yang was recently appointed as Chair and Chief of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at Western University and its teaching Hospitals, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London, we join him in celebrating this important achievement and thank him for his many contributions to our department over the years he spent at The Ottawa Hospital and University of Ottawa.
Dr. Dan Dubois is a most deserving recipient of the John Bradley Young Educator Award, which recognizes excellence and effectiveness in education in anesthesia. With the countless hours he has invested in our residency program as Associate Program Director and, in particular, to support our CBME program as CBD Lead, we are proud of his success and privileged to share in his achievement by being represented so well.
