The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Ottawa is recruiting faculty members with subspecialty skills in Pain Medicine, including chronic, interventional, transitional and acute pain.
Dr. Lucie Filteau has spent the last six years building a Lego replica of the Civic Campus. Her replica includes everything from an OR and ICU, to a colonoscopy unit and pathology lab!

Our very own Dr. Catherine Smyth was selected as the first speaker in the University of Ottawa’s Alumni Lecture Series. Dr. Smyth’s lecture “The Art and Science of Pain and Its Current State in the National Capital Region” coincides with an initiative to have a residency program in Pain Medicine accredited by the Royal College. Dr. Smyth is at the helm of this project.
Congratulations to Dr. Ashraf Fayad, PHE Fellowship Director and to Dr. Viren Naik, Vice Chair of Education! They have each been chosen to receive 2013 CAS Membership Honors.
Congratulations to Drs Dylan Bould, Sylvain Boet, and Viren Naik who are supervising simulation fellows Anita Lai and Alexis Haligua (Emergency Medicine). Their project entitled: “Learning crisis resource management: practicing versus observational role in simulation training" was awarded $48,500 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
On July 3rd, 2012, our department welcomed 9 new PGY 1s, 2 new FPA residents, and one PGY3 transfer. Staff and the new residents enjoyed a lovely evening at the annual New Resident Welcome Dinner held at the Courtyard Restaurant.
Our Chair and Chief, Dr. Homer Yang has received the 2012 Mentor of the Year Award from the Region 3 Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
