Congratulations to Drs Dylan Bould, Sylvain Boet, and Viren Naik who are supervising simulation fellows Anita Lai and Alexis Haligua (Emergency Medicine). Their project entitled: “Learning crisis resource management: practicing versus observational role in simulation training" was awarded $48,500 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. The team had also received an Educational Initiatives in Residency Education grant from the University of Ottawa. Great work everyone.
Congratulations to Claudia Gomez (welcome back) and Rob Jee (good luck in Vancouver) who put in a lot of time and effort on our new publication: “Bryson GL, Gomez CP, Jee RM, Blackburn J, Taljaard M, Forster AJ. Unplanned admission after day surgery: A historical cohort in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Can J Anesth 2012: doi 10.1007/s12630-012-9746-0”
This project combined linkage of administrative databases in the Ottawa Hospital Data Warehouse with Claudia and Rob's chart review to identify outcomes in this challenging population. As we merge TOH's electronic anesthetic record with the Datawarehouse we will be able to do a LOT more of this kind of research. Follow the link for a copy of the manuscript.
