Biography

Research Focus / Impact

Dr. Li has devoted her research efforts to the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression. She has made important contributions to the understanding of how cells respond to inducing signals in the context of chromatin. Recently, her research team has focused on how chromatin dynamics and different signaling pathways converge to direct stem cell differentiation.

Accomplishments / Awards

Dr. Li is the founding and current director of the collaborative graduate program “Pathology and Experimental Medicine”. She has published 45 manuscripts, which have been cited over 2,000 times in literature (WoS, Thomson Reuters). She was a recipient of CIHR New Investigator Salary Award, and was recognized with the Teaching Skill Attainment Award in 2009 and the Undergraduate Medical Education Appreciation Award in 2013.

Grant Support

Dr Li’s research has been funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Cancer Research Society, the Canadian Institute for Health Research and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
