Students and Postdoctoral fellows

Training is provided to students and postdoctoral fellows working in the laboratories of the members of CI3, which fills an important gap in supporting interdisciplinary research in infection, immunity and chronic inflammatory disease research. It provides a foundation from which Faculty and trainees identify synergies and interact to build effective collaborations in order to answer complex problems and translate promising discoveries to the patients that need them most.
Undergraduate courses
There is an extensive cohort of students at the undergraduate level at uOttawa (Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine) who take courses in Bacteriology, Virology, Immunology and Cell Metabolism. These students will find home in the CI3 to pursue further studies or to gain employment. Most of the courses related to this centre are taught in the fourth year of undergraduate studies, and our aim is to bring these courses to students during the second and third year of undergraduate studies. In the Translational and Molecular Medicine (TMM) undergraduate program at uOttawa, we are implementing this vision.
Graduate programs (M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs)
The graduate students are enrolled across the Faculty of Medicine’s graduate programs, ranging from Microbiology and Immunology and Biochemistry, to Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and Epidemiology The broad membership of CI3 encompasses the majority of Microbiology and Immunology graduate students (>60 trainees), as well as PDFs and Medical Residents working in infection, immunity and/or chronic inflammatory diseases across complementary programs (Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Pediatrics, Epidemiology, Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, etc.).

Postdoctoral programs
Postdoctoral fellows are an integral part of our centre. Candidates should submit their intent directly to the members of CI3. The centre offers unique training opportunities in multidisciplinary research in excellent research facilities, which endows candidates more employment opportunities in industry, government and academia.
