Technical Staff

The microscopy specialists offer consultations to determine the most suitable microscope for your specific needs and the proper design of your experimental set-up. In addition, we provide comprehensive training and follow-up sessions for all first-time users, ensuring optimal use of the imaging systems.

The CBIA core is open from Monday to Friday: 8:00AM to 5:30 PM. The staff is available during working hours to respond to any issues that may arise while using one of our microscopes or any image analysis issue.

Microscopy Specialist

MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa.

Her project focused on the role of mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum structure altering cell migration. Through her MSc she’s developed microscopy skills in live and fixed cell imaging.

She has experience in macro development and co-localization analysis, 3D rendering, cell and organelle tracking using using various softwares e.g. Imaris, Fiji and Matlab.

When her eyes aren’t on an eyepiece they’re usually in a book that’s either historical fiction or a psychological thriller.

Post-doc in plant cell mechanics, Dr Anja Geitman, Research Institute for Plant Biology (IRBV) of Université de Montréal - 2 years.

Research Associate and Core Manager of the Centre for Microscopy and Cellular Imaging, Dr A. Piekny, Concordia University - 5 years.

Qualified in multiple sophisticated imaging techniques allow to support various research fields from fundamental knowledge in Life Sciences to Medical Research, Exercise Science, Engineering and even Art.

Member and council-at-large for the Microscopical Society of Canada.
