Foundational Elements of Applied Simulation Theory

The Foundational Elements of Applied Simulation Theory (FEAST)

The Foundational Elements of Applied Simulation Theory (FEAST) curriculum is a special series of small group sessions developed by the Department of Innovation in Medical Education (DIME) and the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre (uOSSC). The program aims to foster a solid grounding in the theory and practice of simulation via interactive teaching on simulation in education, research in simulation and effective simulation instruction and design.

Enrolment is limited to those applicants who have been accepted into an existing Fellowship (with a substantial time commitment to simulation) for the upcoming academic year. FEAST sessions (with limited exceptions) will be held on Wednesdays between 8:30am - 12:00pm and the course will run from July 2020 to June 2021. As there are occasional guest speakers, there will be a limited number of sessions occurring Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm or Tuesday morning from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. These exceptions will be sent out as far in advance as possible. Please note that the expectation is that scholars will be required to attend all of the sessions and therefore will need protected time to do so.

In addition, the applicant’s Fellowship Director must discuss this application with the FEAST Director before approval is granted.
