Undergraduate Education

The Department of Emergency Medicine is involved in undergraduate education throughout the four years of medical school. In years one and two, our faculty are involved with the Physician Skill Development course, and preclerkship students are offered an elective experience in the Emergency Department working one-on-one with staff physicians and residents. In year 3, DEM Faculty teach in the Link Block, and we provide a 4 week clerkship rotation in the Emergency Department to all students. Our clerkship has been the highest ranked rotation by medical students since we introduced it in 2003. In year 4 we provide lectures in the Back to Basics series, and offer students a 4 week elective experience.
