Faculty of Medicine Homecoming Welcome Reception
Friday, October 4, 2019, 5 p.m.
Location: Canada Science and Technology Museum, 1867 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa
Admission: Free; registration is required
Reconnect with your classmates while examining medical artifacts from a century ago. Join us for a special discussion as we unpack a medical bag that once belonged to a distinguished Canadian physician. Undisturbed and unopened for more than 50 years, this bag has been loaned to uOttawa by the owner’s family for this unique event. During the panel discussion, we will explore the significance of the house call in history and its re-emergence today in the tech-driven health care landscape.
Speakers will include Dr. Susan Lamb, Hannah Chair in History of Medicine, Department of Innovation in Medical Education (DIME), uOttawa; and David Pantalony, PhD, Curator, Physical Sciences and Medicine, Canada Science and Technology Museum.

Our gala will take inspiration from the periodic table, which celebrates 150 years in 2019. From our first encounters with it in high school science class, to its practical uses in our labs and clinics today—the periodic table bonds us.
