It’s high time to celebrate together again—save the date for Homecoming 2022!
The Faculty of Medicine community has shown incredible resilience, determination and commitment through the difficulties of the last two years.
“We’ve faced real adversity and big challenges,” says Dr. Bernard Jasmin, dean of the Faculty of Medicine. “Given everything we’ve accomplished, it’s time to celebrate.”
Dr. Jasmin is proud to welcome members from every corner of the Faculty community in coming together to enjoy an array of Homecoming festivities together, from September 30 to October 2, 2022.
“Please join us for many special events in 2022, including our gala and Panda game,” he says.
Whether celebrating an important milestone anniversary with former classmates, reconnecting with friends after many years, or simply coming out to applaud the successes of our Faculty of Medicine, this will be a weekend to remember.
The 3-day event kicks off on the Friday with an opportunity for classmates to get reacquainted at the Dean’s Welcome reception atop the Westin at TwentyTwo, the perfect locale for a soirée. Then it’s up early the next day to cheer on the uOttawa Gee-gees football team as they endeavor to defend beloved Pedro the Panda from archrivals the Carleton Ravens at the 53rd Panda Game.
Attendees will swap varsity garb for black ties on Saturday evening as they head to the Shaw Centre for the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine Gala. All faculty members, staff, learners, donors and alumni are welcome to attend the gala.
That night, the Faculty will showcase why it ranks among the top medical schools in the world as it congratulates the recipients of its prestigious annual honours: the Awards of Excellence, the Alumni Awards of Distinction, and the Research Day Awards. Guests will also enjoy a musical concert as part of the celebrations.
On Sunday, guests will make plans to reunite next year and bid farewell to their colleagues at the Alumni & Friends Awards & Farewell Brunch. Guests from out of town will appreciate the chance to say goodbye to Ottawa as they take in the stunning views from the Shaw Centre. Classes with milestone anniversaries will be highlighted, and classes who missed out on the chance to celebrate their own significant milestone anniversaries over the last couple of years are particularly encouraged to attend.
The Faculty’s alumni relations team is busy working with alumni and their classes to shape a successful Homecoming weekend. See complete event listings in the sidebar.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Faculty and community, we have had a lot of success, and a lot to be proud of. After two long years, we couldn’t be more excited to see you in person!
