Join uOBMRI’s charity golf tournament in support of stroke research
The uOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) is hosting the inaugural Strokes for Stroke Golf Tournament at the Marshes Golf Club (320 Terry Fox Drive) in Kanata, Ottawa.
All proceeds of the tournament will directly support the Stroke Research Consortium (SRC) and the uOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute. The SRC aims to systemically research the underlying mechanisms of stroke injury, improve recovery among survivors and implement delivery of care best practices for this debilitating condition.
Canadians live with the consequences of stroke, among which 40% suffer permanent disability. While the estimated cost of $3 billion per year for care during recovery from stroke is significant, the emotional cost to patients and caregivers is immeasurable. These facts underscore the urgent need to advance prevention, recovery and rehabilitation that would decrease stroke’s mortality rate and improve quality of life of stroke survivors.
