Venkatesh Thiruganasambandamoorthy

Biography

Dr. Venkatesh Thiruganasambandamoorthy is internationally recognized in syncope and presyncope research. He is a Full Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa as well a Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He completed his Master's in Epidemiology in addition to a Research Fellowship, and mentors Master's and postdoctoral students. He has established one of the largest programs on ED syncope and presyncope.

He has held important roles in advancing syncope research and has established collaborations both nationally and internationally. He was invited by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society to be a writing panel member for the position paper on syncope. Some of his previous roles include co-chair of an international panel for standardized reporting guidelines for syncope, a scientific committee member for the first International Workshop for establishing future research priorities in syncope, and lead investigator for the projects on pre-hospital and emergency syncope care submitted by the Canadian Arrhythmia Network to the Networks of Centers of Excellence program. Dr. Venkatesh Thiruganasambandamoorthy is a founding member of the Canadian Syncope Alliance, a national collaboration aiming to improve syncope care in Canada.
