Fall 2018 Faculty Development Half Day: Learning, modelling and teaching workplace resilience

Our Department’s free, accredited “Faculty Development Half Days” are a great way for all FM faculty to connect other faculty, share ideas, find meaning in their work (or at least to commiserate!), and build skills to help us in our roles as a medical educator.

The Spring Half Day was our biggest yet. On Friday morning June 15, 2018 more than 30 faculty, heard from seven different speakers in French and English, on topics related to cognitive bias, clinical reasoning, the role of emotions in teaching and learning, journal clubs, and assessing how learners find common ground. Another 35 faculty attended an orientation in the afternoon, and a session “Fundamentals of Essential Teachings Skills 1” where expectations in a competency-based medical education world were discussed.
