According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, a third of Canadian seniors regularly take over five medications, and more than one in four have been prescribed over ten unique medications in the past year. Join forces with the Ottawa Practice Enhancement Network (OPEN) and other primary care networks across Canada to participate in a research and quality improvement collaboration called SPIDER (a Structured Process Informed by Data, Evidence and Research) to support practices’ efforts to advance care for complex elderly patients.

Reducing potentially inappropriate medications by managing polypharmacy aims to improve patient health and the healthcare experience while providing options for seniors beyond long-term care homes, an important and emerging issue during the pandemic. Contact OPEN’s Regional Coordinator, Maddie Venables, at to participate.
