Undergraduate Education Updates

Posted on Friday, April 13, 2018

A great initiative was started by Kirsten Desjardins-Lorimer, one of our 4th year medical student who has recently matched to family medicine. She has organized an evening, Networking with 4th Years in Family Medicine, that took place on April 3rd 2018 where fourth year medical students who have matched to family medicine meet with students from first, second and third year to network. Approximately 100 people were present for the event. You can read more about the event in the feature piece presented in PULSE.

Did you have a stellar medical student who would be deserving of an award? The Department of Family Medicine Awards Committee is meeting to choose a student for the CFPC Medical Student Leadership Award in early May, 2018.

The Award is presented by the CFPC to recognize exemplary medical students currently enrolled in the graduating class of 2018.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Demonstrated interest and skills in areas such as health care policy/economics; government/media relations; advocacy and representation on behalf of patients, peers or healthcare organizations
  • Demonstrate a commitment to or an interest in a career in family practice. Student must have matched to family medicine.

Each Medical Student Leadership Award consists of complimentary FMF registration and $1,000 to offset travel and other expenses to attend FMF 2018 in Toronto, November 14 to 17, 2018.
