Dr. Courtney Guy
I'm Courtney. I hail from Whitby, Ontario, but at 18 years old, I escaped to Ottawa to start my undergrad and have not left! Eight years, a pandemic and a medical degree later, I proudly call Ottawa my home away from home, largely due to the incredible people here who have added such quality to my life.
I feel very honoured to be elected as the next Chief Resident of uOttawa's Family Medicine Residency Program. My personal and professional development has been largely (and positively!) influenced by excellent comradery among residents and staff. These relationships are something I plan to continue to highlight and promote during my time as Chief through social events and mentorship opportunities.
COVID is something we may start to see in the rear-view mirror, but there is still much work to be done. I intend to put my peer support training to good use when supporting my fellow residents and advocating for their wellness to be a high priority.
One of the great things our program has to offer is the ability for residents to "build a residency" that matches their passion. I look forward to supporting residents in coordinating electives, schedules, contacts, etc., that support the kind of career they are creating for themselves.
In my free time, you'll find me playing board games, climbing rocks or paddling the backcountry of Algonquin Park. If we meet in person, I'd love to share recommendations on great outdoor gear or swap photos of our dogs.
I look forward to working with you,
- Courtney
