My name is Dr. Julia Buthmann and I am very excited to have been selected as uOttawa’s next
Family Medicine Program Chief Resident! I am currently a first year resident, based at the Civic Family Health Team.
I am originally from Germany but have lived in Canada since 2007. I completed my medical school training at the University of Ottawa and have been fortunate to pursue my dream of becoming a Family Physician, right here, in my Canadian hometown.
If I am not at work you will find me riding my bike (wearing a helmet of course!), having coffee with friends, playing with my cats or lifting weights at the gym.
What excites me the most about becoming Program Chief Resident is the opportunity to give back to the community of faculty and residents, to develop my leadership skills and to advocate for the well-being of our residents. I have a great interest in teaching and mentorship and have had the opportunity to be involved in various student-run support and interest groups.
As the new Program Chief Resident, I hope to continue the amazing work that has been started by the previous Chiefs, but with an increased focus on resident wellness. I hope to enhance the collaboration amongst the Site Chief Residents, particularly when it comes to planning the Resident Retreat and other social gatherings. As an advocate for the Family Medicine resident body, I hope to bring forward resident concerns and suggestions and advocate on their behalf, to ensure that this program continues to train and educate outstanding future Family Physicians.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at firstname.lastname@example.org.
