Biography

Dr. Sharon Johnston, MD, LLM is an Associate Professor with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa and a Clinician-Investigator at the CT Lamont Primary Health Care Research Centre and at the Bruyère Research Institute in Ottawa, Ontario.

Dr. Johnston’s research focuses on primary health care services delivery research, particularly performance measurement and reporting to understand and support what leads to better experiences and better outcomes. She works closely with policy makers, health care providers, and community program implementers to pioneer innovation in performance measurement systems as well interdisciplinary team disease management. Her projects seek to improve performance measurement and reporting for regional health system planning, primary healthcare practice improvement, including interdisciplinary primary health care teams, and patient engagement. For over a decade, Dr. Johnston has also been researching and teaching about medical professionalism and the changing social contract between physicians and the society they serve.
