Year of Entry: 2018
PhD Supervisor: TBA
I'm originally from Maple, Ontario but have bounced around to four cities in the last ten years because of hockey and school. I'm a big sports fan and also a big food fan. I'll watch just about any sport (minus Nascar), and eat just about any food (minus anchovies). Also a big How I Met Your Mother and The Office supporter.
Academically, I completed my BSc in Human Kinetics with Honours from St. Francis Xavier University, and then completed my MSc in Exercise Physiology from McGill University. During my undergrad, I seemed to loathe research and everything about it until I completed an honours project in my final year. I'm excited and proud to be able to combine my long-time passion for medicine with research.
I'm a pretty curious person, and my research focus thus far is definitely far from concentrated. In my undergrad, I completed an honours project investigating parental influences on children's physical activity. I loved every aspect of pediatric activity, which linked into my master's research that explored an exercise intervention program for people with rheumatoid arthritis. During my masters degree, I was fortunate to also be able to write and present some sports science research which is also pretty interesting to me!
Going forward, I don't know exactly what I'll be researching, but I'm very excited nonetheless!
