Graduate Program: Cellular and Molecular Medicine
Year Of Entry: 2014
PhD Supervisor: Dr. Barbara Vanderhyden
My first research experience was for the Sanofi-Aventis BioTalent Challenge at University of Toronto during high school, and I have not been able to stay away from science since! I have learned a lot about the challenges in cancer research and the various therapeutic avenues over the years, and am excited to be able to continue down this path at the University of Ottawa.
I developed a passion for cancer research during my training. I was drawn to subclinical studies in particular, exploring the regulatory mechanisms of tumorigenesis and metastasis and searching for ways to block them. The very collaborative nature of the OHRI between principal investigators as well as physicians creates an excellent environment to pursue such subclinical questions. In 2016, I began my PhD with Dr. Barbara Vanderhyden, studying the molecular regulation of ovarian cancer.
