Bachelor of Science, McMaster University (2011); Honours

Nischal, Ranganath

Year of Entry:  2011

PhD Supervisor:  Dr. Jonathan Angel

Personal Background:

I completed my undergraduate studies in Health Sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario in 2011. During my training in the Health Sciences program, I had wonderful opportunities to participate in clinical research studies in Nephrology, Haematology, and Gastroenterology. It was through these experiences that I decided to pursue the MD/PhD program, in order to bridge the gap between my interests in medicine and science. I chose the University of Ottawa for its world-class research, immense clinical opportunities, and the wonderful culture and environment offered by the city.

Research Focus:

Within the MD/PhD program, I decided to pursue a Basic Science research project investigating the pathogenesis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus, cellular and immunologic response to viral infection, as well as developing novel therapeutic strategies to treat HIV infection.
