Scholarships in Translational Research (STaR Award)

In partnership with the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI), the Dr. Eric Poulin Centre for Neuromuscular Disease (CNMD) is pleased provide the Scholarships in Translational Research, or STaR Awards. The STaR Awards encourages excellence in graduate studies at the master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral levels. CNMD STaR Awards is a merit-based scholarship. Five awards are available. Three awards, valued at $10,000/yr for a 1 year term, will support meritorious basic science trainees working on any aspect of neuromuscular function or dysfunction. Two awards are supported directly through the Dr. Eric Poulin Fund, valued at $15,000/yr for a 1 year term, and will support meritorious research specifically in motor neuron disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)-related disorders.

STaR Awards are available to trainees studying in any laboratory for which the principal investigator is a member of the CNMD. Trainees may be studying any aspect of neuromuscular function or dysfunction, and must be pursuing their studies full-time, and may not be employed for more than an average of 10 hours per week for any term during tenure of the award.
