On September 21st, 2015 uOttawa celebrated the 10 year collaboration between uOttawa and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) that Dan Figeys was insturmental in establishing. The day marked the special convocation ceremony to award CAS President Chunli Bai an honorary doctorate along with presentations on ongoing collaborations - including one from OISB former PDF Hu Zhou, who is now Director of the MS facility at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) and Figeys Lab PDF Zhibin Ning. In addition there was a signing of a cooperation agreement between the OISB and SIMM to formalize the creation of a joint research centre: SIMM-uOttawa joint research center in translation "OMICS". Agreement was signed by Kristin Baetz, Interim-Director of OISB, Jacques Bradwejn, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Yang Ye, Deputy Director of SIMM (front row) and witnessed by Allan Rock, President of uOttawa, and Chunli Bai, CAS President (back row).
