Students are evaluated at the end of the course through answers to a single, take-home question. The answer to the questions should be in an essay format of at least three single-sided pages in length of regularly typed text (8.5 x 11" paper, 0.75 to 1" margins, 10-12 pitch) excluding figures, tables and bibliographic references. References to the literature should be mainly of peer review type. Minimal use of textbooks and Internet material is expected.
You must not copy and paste material because this can result in plagiarism, which results in mandatory intervention by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Pictures or drawings appropriately referenced are acceptable.
Ensure that you register attendance to each lecture by signing in the attendance list provided by the professor or made up during the lecture. The list should be handed in to the professor at the end of the lecture. Attendances that are below 75% would be deemed insufficient.

Question: Will be provided to students on April 9th, 2021
Details of essay construction:
1. This essay should be at least three typed single-sided pages in length;
2. Figures, tables and bibliographic references are extra pages and not inclusive of the typed text;
3. The format of regularly typed text (8.5 x 11” paper, 0.75 to 1” margins, using 12 pitch
4. Only Times New Roman, Helvetica or Arial fonts should be used;
5. References to the literature should be mainly of peer review type. Minimal use of textbooks and internet is expected;
6. Pictures and drawings appropriately referenced are acceptable.
NB: Textual copying of reference texts or publications, whether in whole or in part constitutes plagiarism, even if referenced, and that such an action requires notification to the Faculty of Postdoctoral and Graduate Studies.
However, if copies of figures that may be required to complete an essay and are impossible to make, such as a photograph of a microscopic field, are acceptable, provided that the appropriate acknowledgment is given. It is preferable not use someone else’s work.
The deadline to submit your essay will be no later than April 19, 2021 at 11:59 pm
Please send your essay to Dr. Adolfo de Bold: adebold@bell.net and cc’ Manon Levesque palm.office@uottawa.ca
