Biography
Dr. Osama Aldirbashi obtained his Bachelor’s of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Jordan in 1995 and his MSc and PhD in bioanalytical chemistry at Nagasaki University in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He completed his biochemical genetics fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Before joining the Newborn Screening Ontario lab at CHEO in 2009, he was the head of the National Laboratory for Newborn Screening at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the largest mass spectrometry-based neonatal screening program in the Middle East. He is certified in clinical biochemical genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists. Dr. Aldirbashi's research interests are focused on the development of new methods for screening and diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism using tandem mass spectrometry. He is the author of more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
