Biography

Dr. Ali Amid is originally from Tehran, Iran and graduated medical school at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He immigrated to Canada in 2005 and completed a pediatric residency at the University of Calgary in 2011. He then completed his pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Ottawa and University of Toronto in 2014. He further completed a clinical and research fellowship in hemoglobinopathies and iron overload disorders at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, where he also practiced as an associate physician in pediatric hematology and thrombosis since 2016 until he joined the faculty staff at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in August 2017. Dr. Amid's research focus is in thalassemia, sickle cell disease, iron overload, and thrombosis and has published his research in leading hematology journals like Blood and Haematologica. He has received many clinical and research awards such as SickKid's Hematology/Oncology Teaching Award (2017) and Thalassemia Foundation of Canada Research Grant (2015).
