Dr. Dennis Bulman completed a Master’s of Science in Microbiology and Immunology in 1986 at Western University. He graduated with a PhD in molecular and medical genetics at the University of Toronto in 1993. He subsequently joined the Western faculty in the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences. In 1997, he moved to the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. In 2012, he joined Newborn Screening Ontario and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute. He is certified in clinical molecular genetics by the Canadian College of Medical Genetics, the American College of Medical Genetics and he is a diplomat of the American Board of Medical Genetics. Dr. Bulman’s research interests involve the identification of genes for rare genetic disorders, determination of the mechanism of disease, the translation of these discoveries to the clinic, and the implementation of new molecular testing paradigms to newborn screening.
