Biography

Dr. Michael Geraghty obtained his medical degree in 1984 at University College Dublin in Ireland and his MSc in medical genetics in 1987 at Trinity College in Dublin. He also did his pediatrics training in Dublin and completed a fellowship in medical genetics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 1988 to 1992. Dr. Geraghty remained at Johns Hopkins as an assistant professor in pediatrics from 1992 to 2002 and was the clinical director of the McKusick-Nathans Institutes of Medical Genetics, Johns Hopkins. Dr. Geraghty came to Ottawa in 2002 and set up the metabolics program at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). He is a member of the maternal childhood screening committee in Ontario.
