Biography
Dr. Ian MacLusky graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School and London University in the UK in 1976. He completed a pediatric residency program at McMaster University in Hamilton in 1979, becoming chief resident in 1981. From 1982 to 1984 he did his pediatric respiratory medicine fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto and he joined the faculty of SickKids in 1984. He was a clinician specialist there from 1984 until 2006 when he was head of the pulmonary function and sleep laboratories and built the sleep medicine program. Dr. MacLusky also established the flexible bronchoscopy program and helped establish the pediatric lung transplantation program. He became an associate professor at the University of Toronto in 2000. In 2006, he joined the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) as head of the respiratory medicine service. His primary clinical and research interests have been in the areas of home ventilation, as well as the management of complex respiratory disease in children.
