Biography

Dr. Ron Tam earned his medical degree at the University of Manitoba in 1991 and completed a rotating internship at the Winnipeg’s Health Science Centre in 1992. Upon completing his pediatrics residency at the University of Ottawa in 1996, he returned to Winnipeg and began his career in pediatric emergency medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg. In 1999, Dr. Tam joined the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). He also serves as pediatric consultant for the regional paramedic program for Eastern Ontario and is a pediatric instructor for Ornge. Dr.Tam champions Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) in pediatric emergency medicine in Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society, a pediatric instructor for the Emergency Department Echo (EDE) course and a clinical instructor for the emergency ultrasound fellowship at the University of Ottawa. His research interests include pre-hospital medicine, paramedic advanced airway management and PoCUS education for undergraduates and postgraduates.
