Marcio Mendes Gomes

Dr. Marcio Gomes is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and Staff Pathologist at The Ottawa Hospital. He has been the Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the pathology content expert for the MD program since 2010, after being involved with Postgraduate Medical Education. His main area of interest is in interdisciplinary teaching and communication.  He has presented many workshops on these topics in national and international medical education conferences. In 2009, he developed the Interdisciplinary Thoracic Pathology Meetings, which were responsible in great part for some of the teaching awards he has received. 

Dr. Gomes obtained his medical degree, specialty training and PhD at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He moved to Canada in 2005, as an Assistant Professor at the University of Sherbrooke and he joined the University of Ottawa in 2008. His main areas of clinical expertise are Thoracic and Gastrointestinal pathology.
