Roles and Responsibilities

The Purchasing Services is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the proper functioning of procurement of goods and services and administering service agreements for the Faculty of Medicine’s departments, programs and research community.

Purchasing Services’ main responsibilities are:

  • Ensuring that all procurement services conform to the University's policies and applicable laws
  • Ensuring the payment of invoices for goods and services received
  • Maintaining and managing business relationships with suppliers
  • Ensuring the performance, creditworthiness and reputation of service providers
  • Striving for progress, promotion of best practices and ethical conduct in procurement
  • Preparing and negotiating contracts for services, professional fees and suppliers
  • Issuing purchase orders of up to $100,000
