Dr Carolina Souza is a thoracic radiologist at the Ottawa Hospital, director of the Thoracic Imaging Fellowship and an Associate Professor of the University of Ottawa. Dr Souza is originally from Brazil where she obtained her MD followed by a PhD degree in Radiology from the University of Rio de Janeiro. In 2006, she completed a 2-year fellowship in thoracic radiology at the Vancouver General Hospital under supervision of Dr. Nestor Muller.

Since the completion of her clinical fellowship, Dr Souza has been working as a thoracic radiologist at The Ottawa Hospital where she has been actively involved in teaching, research, and multidisciplinary patient care. Dr Souza has over 55 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 100 invited presentations in national and international lectures.

Dr Souza is a passionate teacher and has received teaching awards from undergraduate and residency levels. In 2017 she completed the Healthcare Education Scholars Program (HESP) from the Department of Innovation in Medical Education (DIME) of the University of Ottawa, a program dedicated to scholarship in medical education. Dr Souza had an essential role in the implementation of the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Clinic at the Ottawa Hospital and is the lead radiologist of the ILD Multidisciplinary Meetings since 2013. Her main areas of interest include interstitial and diffuse lung diseases, advances in lung cancer and medical education.
