- The Department of Surgery works closely with the Faculty of Medicine to support education and research, via the Dean, Vice Dean – Research, Vice Dean – Undergraduate Education, and Vice Dean – Postgraduate Medical Education.
- Research in the department is supported through strong relationships with OHRI (Ottawa Hospital Research Institute), uOHI (uOttawa Heart Institute), and the CHEO Research Institute.
- The Ottawa Hospital Academic Medical Organization (TOHAMO) is an unincorporated association whose members the TOH medical staff, who are concerned with the provision of clinical services, medical education and basic and applied health research for the population served by the academic health science centre.
- Numerous external partners support the clinical and academic missions of the hospital.
