Methods Centre
Core Services of the Ottawa Methods Centre (OMC) include consultation and advice, study design and methodology, statistical analysis, data management, systematic reviews and knowledge synthesis, health economics, and education.
Trainees and early career members from the DoS are entitled to some services at no charge.
- For unfunded projects, these services include methodological consultation, statistical support at the project development phase, advice on data collection options, guidance on how to run statistical analysis, and 15 hours of statistical services per project.
All other DoS members are also entitled to unlimited consultations and reduced OMC services fees for their projects. Please connect with Julia Chehaiber, OMC’s Operations Manager to confirm eligibility and service options.
Working with the OMC begins with a consultation. Consultations are initiated via submission of an intake form that allows the OMC to best pair your needs with their staff.

Publication Officer
Roles:
- Promote and facilitate the use of reporting guidelines
- Assist researchers with other aspects of the journal submission process
- Navigates open access and publication metrics
- Manages transparency processes (protocol registration)
- Meet one-on-one to discuss publication topics
PROMPT Network:
- Tool available for researchers at The Ottawa Hospital to obtain feedback on their completed manuscripts prior to journal submission
- Manuscripts submitted to the network will be cross-checked against their relevant reporting guideline (i.e., a study methods and results check)

University of Ottawa Library
uOttawa Library Renews Financial Support for Open-access Publishing:
- The University of Ottawa Library has renewed financial support for open-access publishing.
- Papers submitted on or after May 1st, 2017 are eligible for support with particular publishers or via the library shared support scheme (50% of article processing charges are supported).

DoS Research Consultant
Roles:
- Assist with external grant applications, by providing review or enabling peer-review
- Provide brief consultation in design, data collection, aggregation, and display of data
- Provide consultation to residents and staff regarding research programs, grants, publications, and abstracts
