Following the interview, preliminary rank order lists are prepared based on a combined score using the cGPA and the interview performance (a poor interview may not be ranked). In the event of ties in the final scores, candidates with the highest cGPA will be ranked higher. The admissions committee may take other factors into consideration when ranking each candidate.
All offers of admission are conditional and are subject to the following conditions:
Selected candidates must provide us with an official final transcript of their marks from the Registrar of their university by the end of June 2022.
Selected candidates must successfully complete their current academic year, (this applies to all level of study, undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees, whether it is full-time or part-time). The cGPA will be recalculated for candidates who were completing undergraduate studies during the application year to ensure their cGPA does not fall below the minimum cut-off established. Although the cGPA only includes grades from the undergraduate level of study, grades from upper level will be considered to ensure academic excellence is maintained.
Selected candidates must provide us with the completed immunization form, the police record check form and the CPR certification proof by August 2, 2022.
Selected candidates must complete all admission requirements by June 2022 (this includes all course work at the graduate or doctoral level of study).
Selected candidates must provide us with their proof of citizenship (copy only).
The University may revoke the offer of admission if the selected candidate fails to meet any admission requirement or any one of the conditions mentioned above.
Because of the important weight that is attached to the interview performance within our selection process, further applications to the MD program of studies from candidates who have had three interviews will not be considered. This policy applies to all applicants regardless of the category applied for.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa's $125.00 institutional levy is deductible from the tuition fees when the candidate is admitted.
A one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) deposit fee must accompany a firm acceptance of the offer of admission. The deposit is deductible from tuition fees (once registered at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa).
Once admitted in the first year, a student may submit a request for a deferred registration. This deferral may be granted under very exceptional circumstances with provision of supporting documentation. The request is granted or refused by the Admissions Office in consultation with the Vice-Dean. Students admitted by another medical school and given the privilege of a deferred registration will not be considered for admission at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa as long as they maintain their deferred registration.
A student cannot be enrolled in any other College or University program (full time or part time) once admitted in the first year of the MD program. Under very exceptional circumstances, permission may be granted by the Vice Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education.
