To familiarize the student with the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic sports related injuries.
The University of Ottawa Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy Centre offers the student a wide variety of experiences in the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic sports injuries, osteoarthritis and other arthritic conditions. This clinic is staffed by sports medicine physicians with their diploma in Sports Medicine and also by physicians in Emergency Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery and Physiatry. The clinic caters to non-athletes and to a full range of athletes from the recreational to the highly competitive. The clientele includes patients of all ages. Patients are not necessarily limited to university students. There is an on-site physiotherapy facility within the clinic. Students will have the opportunity to cover university level sports and possible professional, and semi-professional sports with the supervisors.
