Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education and Associate Professor University of Ottawa
Dr. Chaput completed undergraduate and graduate training in pharmacy before entering medical school at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with his MD in 1996. He completed an anesthesia residency program at the University of Toronto in 2006 and during his residency he completed a Master's degree in Health Research Methodology.
Since 2006, Dr. Chaput has worked as an anesthesiologist at The Ottawa Hospital. He has held various administrative positions within the Department of Anesthesia where most recently he was the Vice-Chair of Education.
Dr. Chaput has been heavily involved in education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate medical levels at the University of Ottawa for a number of years. He has been the content expert for pharmacology and therapeutics in the MD program, and he was a member of the inaugural cohort of Distinguished Teachers in the Faculty of Medicine. Beginning in 2012, he became part of an executive working group that designed the curriculum for the competency based anesthesia residency training and in his role as Vice-Chair of Education, he played a significant role in the development and implementation of the program that accepted its first resident on July 1, 2015. Dr. Chaput has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards from medical students and residents.
Since 2012, Dr. Chaput has held the role of Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education at the University of Ottawa.
