Dr. Louise Laramée served as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs from 2011 to 2016. As such, with her excellent team of counsellors and coordinator, it was her great privilege to support all medical students in their quest for professional and personal success. After receiving her MD degree from the Université de Montréal, she specialized in internal medicine and cardiology here in Ottawa and pursued a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon returning to the Ottawa Heart Institute, she was involved for many years in postgraduate training in cardiology and intervention and served as examiner for the Royal College Fellowship certification in cardiology.

Dr. Laramée is passionate about medical education, particularly teaching medical students and was the first francophone co-chair of the cardiology curriculum in the early days of the francophone stream. She teaches extensively, has held the position of co-director of clinical skills and is a graduate of the Distinguished Teacher Program. She was the recipient of the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) Certificate of Merit award in 2011 and received the Faculty of Medicine Educator Award for Person competency twice. Since the end of her mandate in Student Affairs, Dr. Laramée continues to interact with students as teacher and e-portfolio coach, and contributes to faculty development and research in medical education.
